The Export-Import Bank of Korea (www.koreaexim.go.kr, Chairman Yong Hwan Kim, “Korea Eximbank”) announced on February 4 that it will hold the 6th Economic Development Cooperation Fund (EDCF) Camp for Korean undergraduate and graduate students for 3 days starting from February 14, at its HR Development Center in Yongin, Gyeonggi-do.
This event was organized to raise awareness on Official Development Assistance (ODA) and to educate future international development experts.
To be hosted by an army of Korea Eximbank’s EDCF experts, the camp will feature various programs such as introductions to past and present EDCF projects, group discussions on hypothetical development cooperation cases, and a quiz contest on ODA.
In particular, students will be treated to a lecture by Hak-Sun Yang, EDCF’s honorary ambassador and the Olympic Gold Medalist in gymnastics, who is to participate as a speaker in the ‘EDCF Talking Concert’.
The gymnast Yang was nominated as EDCF’s Honorary Ambassador last October, because his story of overcoming poverty to become a Gold Medalist in the 2012 London Olympics is a fitting metaphor for Korea’s evolution from a poor country to a donor of aid in just half a century.
Graduates of the EDCF Camp who complete the entire course will be presented with a certificate and a souvenir by the Bank.
Students wishing to participate may apply through the Bank’s website (www.koreaexim.go.kr) or the EDCF website (www.edcfkorea.go.kr) by February 6, 17:00.
The EDCF Camp for Korean undergraduate and graduate students, now in its sixth year, has thus far produced 200 graduates and is attracting a lot of interest, as evidenced by an average admission rate of 20%.
